Wash it away….
Wash it away….
This weekend we took the opportunity and went down to Sebastian Inlet on the boat. It was a pretty murky day and you couldn't see in the water at all. Needless to say I was a little bit freaked out picturing massive sharks and where I'll send who knows what else coming in attacking me. Yeah I can be a little neurotic sometimes. LOL.

Anyways one of the people we were talking to had mentioned how the current had kicked up and that they were looking forward to the Clearwater coming in. So, I thought wow isn't this indicative of our lives.

Each day we go through life and unfortunately make bad decisions decisions, but we look forward to the wonderful fact that Jesus washes of clean every day. As the tide go in and out of the river every day there is Clearwater and there's dirty water and there is cleansing again.

You know, I was always curious as to why all of the baptisms that took place in the Bible happened in the river instead of the sea of Galilee. The river is known for its murkiness while the sea is clear. And I thought perhaps the reason for the river baptism is that our sins are washed fresh with Christ. As we come up out of the water that is murky and dark, we are cleansed with the new freshwater.

It reminds me of the difference between the Indian river and the beautiful bright blue seas in Aruba. Want to be a glorious day when we no longer have to worry about arson filled lies doing right things and doing wrong things, instead it will be crystal clear and beautiful each and every day. Oh how thankful I am to know that all of my sins are washed away.
Round and round we go!
Round and round we go!
Here we go around the Mulberry Bush, the Mulberry Bush, the Mulberry Bush. Here we go around the Mulberry Bush so early in the morning.

So, here is my question: why do we continue to go around the Mulberry Bush and why are we going around it so early in the morning? I don't know.

Well, obviously I don't really mean on Mulberry Bush. I'm talking about the fact that we continue to go over and over the same things every day. We swear we're knocking to eat junk food, and then lo and behold what happens somebody bring something super yummy and delicious into work and I just can't say no. Or we decide I'm not gonna drink any wine today, then we get home and that bottle of wine is so very enticing and Lee just say OK I'll just have one glass. Or how about, I'm never going to say a bad word again and then somebody really makes you mad and you're talking with your BFF and say boy that person sure was a meanie Coppini… Not!

I spent years and years being upset with myself that yet again I had failed to be this perfect Christian. I thought that if I didn't do what was right all the time and say what was right all the time then God would not except me. But this is the thing, I was a rebuilding a system that's already been tore down.
When we except Jesus as our Lord and Savior and we don't have to worry about God not accepting us based upon our behavior. Jesus already took care of all of this. We don't have to try to be good enough we're arty made good through Jesus. There is nothing that we can do to earn or dissed earn God's love and acceptance of us when Jesus is our Lord.

Jesus took our sins upon the cross over 2000 years ago, so can we relive that day? Of course not. So why, oh why are we continuing to circle around the Mulberry Bush day in and day out? Get away from that bush! It's no good.

You are beautiful and you are accepted by God. He is not mad at you. Yes certain things are bad for you and yes certain things have consequences, but your sin and wrongdoings have already been dealt with. Jesus took them all! There's no more sin because sit no longer exists when Jesus is your sacrifice. It's gone, it's wiped away. Walk away from the bush.
Break Down The Wall
Break Down The Wall

I have decided that today is the day to break the Great Wall.

I have spent my entire life trying to climb up that wall to make sure that I find Grace in God's eye.

But then today I had a bit of an eye-opening revelation.

I realize that as we spend our lives trying to find acceptance through the things that we do and the way that we act, we're just climbing a wall.

When Jesus came to Earth and bore our sins upon the cross at Calvary, he did away with the wall.

And if a wall doesn't exist there's nothing to climb over.

So in other words, there used to be a law that was required to achieve favor in God's eyes, but Jesus did away with the law. There is no longer a law.

So, if a law doesn't exist, how can you break it?

 The answer is it's impossible.

There's no law to break, so what are you trying to do?

Jesus already came and dealt with the issue of sin. We can turn our way into heaven.

We have complete and total freedom because of Christ and what he did upon the cross.

When we all stand at the judgement seat of Christ, we are going to be judged upon our belief in Jesus not upon what we did or didn't do here on Earth.

So quit beating yourself up for a good day or a bad day or a somewhat good day or somewhat bad day, you are perfect in God's eyes.

All of your faults that you did in the past, all of the ones you're doing now and all of the ones you're going to do in the future have already been dealt with 100%

The wall is gone. There's no wall to climb over it doesn't exist.

You have been set free when you believe in Jesus Christ as your lord and savior. Quit trying to rebuild that wall and enjoy your life.

Jesus came so that we can have life in abundance until it's full and overflowing, not that we can spend our lives feeling guilty and ashamed of all that we have done that doesn't measure up to whom evers standards.

You are free! Believe it and receive it.

Forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness. It can be such a very difficult thing to do.

We read verses about the importance of forgiveness yet we hold onto resentment and anger within ourselves.

We’re angry at someone’s actions or we’re angry at someone’s words or we’re angry at ourselves for whatever reason.

But forgiveness is so important to God that he said if you don’t forgive others I will not forgive you. Wow! Just think about that one for a minute.

Does forgiving somebody means that we should allow them to be a negative Force in our lives? Absolutely not. But forgiving someone who has offended you does mean recognizing that each one of us falls short of the glory of God on a regular basis.

The reason that God tells us to forgive others is that each one of us is equal in our sin. And we must look beyond sin and look to God.

God is so amazing! He created the things that we see and the things that we don’t see. He created each individual plant. He watches as animals in the wilderness give birth. He sees the depth of the earth and the depths of the ocean. He sees the flower planted on a ledge far beyond any eyes vision. He feels the heart of each and every person as they laugh, as they love, as they hurt and as they live every moment of their lives.

And God sees all that you are experiencing too. And it is so easy to fall into ourselves and the situations at hand, but I want to show you a better way out of your situation.  Instead of focusing on your problems, which are temporary, and what someone has done to you or what you have done to someone else, turn your focus to the eternal God. Recognize his greatness. Recognize that he is so amazing and so powerful and so great!

Put your thoughts and put your mind on to our great Almighty Savior and realize that our forgiving someone else or forgiving our self is the least that we can do to show our appreciation to God.

Do you ever have one of those nights where you just toss and turn and turn and toss?  You feel about as restless as a bull in a rodeo, then finally you succumb to the urge to look at the clock….and then…you realize it is the exact same time you woke up the night before.   But how can that be?  I resisted the urge to look at the clock for at least fifteen minutes, so how can I possibly look at the clock at the exact same time?

Well, normally I would just pass this off to a whatever, but this time (literally) was a bit different.  Seeing 2:19am or 4:25 is no big deal, but two days in a row it was 3:33am.  So, perhaps there wouldn’t be quite as much meaning, if I hadn’t just been discussing the importance of God’s Word emphasizing important phrases numerous times during bible study yesterday.  But I still kinda played it off and forgot about it until an earlier meeting with a co-worker.

This co-worker and I were just randomly discussing work-related items, when I mentioned that I had woken up two days in a row at 3:33am to her.  She looked at me and said, “Oh my gosh, my son was born at 3:33am.”

We both just looked at each other in disbelief.  So, I quickly googled 333 thinking it maybe had a bad meaning since it is half of ya know.  Anyways, I was pretty shocked to find that all the research led to quite the opposite.

Ezekiel 33:3 says, “He sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people”.

Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know”.

John 33:3 Whoever accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true.

Now I have a choice to make.  Do I believe what God’s Word says, or do I just shrug it off as merely coincidence?  Well, I don’t know about you, but I have found that nothing happens by chance.  And what I have read from the Scriptures is that Now is the time to spread the gospel like never before.  We have to stand up and speak out.

So, I want to urge each and every one of you reading to spend each day spreading the gospel.  Don’t slink back in fear.  Speak out for your Lord and Savior.  Encourage those around you, pray, love and trust in Jesus.

Cluck like a Chicken
Cluck like a Chicken

What would you do for a Klondike bar.  Oh boy do I love ice cream!  It is absolutely amazing and wonderful.  I can taste the chocolate crunchy outside combined with the creamy sweet vanilla ice cream inside.  Yum! I can’t wait to take a bite of that delicious goodness.  It seems to be all that I can think about.  So, my mind is set and off I go to grab a hold of the perfect solution for my inner most craving.

But wait.  In order to experience this amazing yumminess, I will have to be willing to bear the absolutely crazy side of the inside me.  Will you cluck like a chicken?  Will you jump like a jack rabbit?  Will you bark like a dog?

Oh, you betcha I will.  And as a matter of fact, it is all that I can think about.  It is the one and only thing on my mind.  So don’t you worry at all.  I will act a complete and total fool to get a hold of it, even if to only experience a few moments of deliciousness.

And wouldn’t it be just perfect in life if we could just jump around like a jack rabbit and have all of our dreams come true?  Well, yeah that would be great, but life is a bit different.  We have certain principles that dictate our lives.  So, now we have a choice to make.  We can either do something in the world or we can do nothing.  Nothing in our life is going to work well until we are; and anything in our life that is worth keeping and that we enjoy, is something that we have to work to maintain.

Think about someone who is getting married.  They are so excited.  They can’t wait to walk down that isle so that they can live happily ever after.  But then, as each one of us discovers after that glorious honeymoon period, is that marriage requires a lot of work!  It requires decisions, humility and forgiveness.   It isn’t just a delicious Klondike bar all the time.  It takes time and commitment.

God understands that all things require time and effort and understanding.  We have to look into the future, not just at the exact moment in time.  We have to have a vision to foresee the long term.  But are you willing to do what you have to do to get what you really want?  Hmmm.  Are you kidding me.  I thought I just had to cluck like a chicken and ‘wahlah’ all my dreams have come true.

Yeah, not so much.  What’s the old saying?  If it looks to easy, it’s too easy and you probably need to look a bit deeper.  If you want to have a long-lasting, loving relationship with anyone, you have to work at it.  There isn’t some poof fairy that is going to pop along and make the relationship work for you.  It is up to you!

If you want to have a successful career, you have to do the work first.  You have to attend a trade school, or college or spend years in preparation.  You can’t just bark like a dog and think life is going to hand you a million dollars.

We have to make choices and follow the steps that God sets in place for our life.  We have to learn to listen to God, get in the Word of God and follow Him.  When we make the decision to give our life over to Jesus, we can be assured that we will have God’s best.  But remember it is a choice.

You are always given a choice in life.  You will reap what you sow.   This goes both ways.  If you sow hard work, you will achieve success, if you sow laziness, you will receive just that.  God tells us in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 that “those who don’t work, shall not eat.”  This is pretty clear and quite the opposite of what society will tell us this day and age.  But this is God’s plan and will.

If you want a successful marriage, you have to work at it.  You have to spend your time and energy preparing your mind and actions. Colossians 3:18 prepares us in how we are to act in marriage. “Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.”  Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”  Malachi 2:16 “I HATE divorce” says the Lord our God.

In business there are a multitude of requirements in order to achieve success.  Ephesians 6:9 reminds us how we are to act as both employees or employers. “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.”

To achieve financial success there are also a multitude of commands from God.  Proverbs 3:9 tells us to “honor the Lord with the first fruits of your increase.” 2Corinthians tells us to give abundantly so we can receive abundantly.  Malachi 3:10 “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!”

So, as you can see after a multitude of directions from God, we have to pay attention to God, listen to God and do for God.  He has good and mighty plans in store for each one of us.  The bible says that ‘God is for us, not against us.’  So, if you want that yummy Klondike bar, quit acting a fool and start looking at things from God’s perspective.  Don’t live your life missing out on God’s best for you.

God has a yummy, delicious life in store for you, but you have to make a choice to give your life over to God, ask Him to forgive you and open your heart to the Holy Spirit and His guidance in each area of life.   That creamy, delicious inside is there waiting for you.  All you have to do is rip it open, take a bite and enjoy!

Jesus is the Answer
Jesus is the Answer

Lately the world has seen an unprecedented number of terror attacks, murders, earthquakes, hurricanes, political hatred, racism, authoritative defiance and nuclear threats. And only the naive would not recognize that we are living in perilous times. So, where does this leave us as a nation and a body of Christ? Where and how do we look upon our world and wonder why all of these atrocities are occurring?

Well, to address these questions and many more, we have to start at the beginning for recognition of the true accomplice. Over the past few weeks I have heard time and time again, “How can God allow this to happen, or God must be disciplining or angry with those affected.”

God is love and in Him lies life. God loves us so much that he sent his one and only Son to take the death penalty that each one of us deserves. There is not a one of us that can say we haven’t sinned, and therefore we must have a Savior. That Savior is Jesus, the one who was with God since the beginning.

John1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 The same was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

We were separated from God by our sins, so Jesus came to earth to deal with and finish the required sacrifice. God requires a blood sacrifice for sin and Jesus 100% accomplished just that. He gave His life for you and for me one time and one time only. So what this tells us is that Jesus has already dealt with the sin.

In the old testament we saw numerous times where God dealt with sin in amazing ways. We saw a flood which filled the earth and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah through hail and fire. The sin was mighty and absolutely MUST be dealt with. For God to not deal with this sin would lead one to ask what kind of Father He could be. But, no! God is a good and perfect Father and He must discipline us in order for us to be all that He created us to be.

Unfortunately, God recognized that time and time again people were continuing on a self-destructive path led by sinful behaviors. So God knew that He must send a proper sacrifice. And this was found in only one: Jesus. Halleluiah.

So this now leads us to know that Jesus took care of or sin, so therefore this destruction that we are seeing all over the world cannot come from God. Jesus already took God’s wrath upon the cross. But there is another and his name is Satan. He is death. He is destruction. He is a murderer. And he has come to kill, to steal and to destroy you, me and all of our friends and family. He is a roaring lion, seeking whom he can devour.

Satan, who in his jealousy, preys on the weak at heart. He is a massive manipulator, a deceiver, a liar, a thief and a murderer. He is Satan and he is evil! The destroyer is just that, a destroyer. He has one goal on earth: to stop you from believing in Jesus and to make you doubt the love of God.

And now that we have ascertained the fact that God is a Creator, we can also recognize that our enemy is Satan. And just as God in his Holiness warned Adam and Eve so now we must be warned of our enemy Satan. You see, without knowledge we cannot conqueror. 2Corinthians 4:4 tells us “Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe…”. And when we are blinded, we do not know which way to turn and we see only darkness.

But we don’t have to live in darkness, being manipulated and lied to by our enemy. No, we can take a stand for truth and know that although troubles and calamity may be occurring at enormous rates, God is here for us. “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.” (2Corinthians 4:8)

So, the bottom line here is that when Satan was given control of the earth by sin, he began a wicked rampage against you and me. He is doing everything in his power to destroy us and lead us to turn away from God and our trust in Jesus. But we will not go down.

You and I were chosen for this specific time with a definite purpose. So, stand up for God. Do not allow others to turn away from God, but encourage them with all of your strength that our lives are 100% complete in Christ.

Now more than ever, ensure your heart is right with God. Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Ask Him into your heart and know that you are forgiven and your name is now written in the Book of Life.

And although chaos engulfs the world in a multitude of directions, we are always triumphant. So, be an example in the way you handle all situations. Place your trust in our living God, pursue a godly life and work at bringing others to Christ in order to complete the ministry God has given you. (Timothy4)

Calling a Mulligan
Calling a Mulligan

Have you ever just had one of those days, or moments when you wish you could just do it all over again?  You realize the stupid mistake you made and wish you could erase it away.  Well, I recently had that happen to me in a very powerful way.

When we really, really want something so desperately that we could just reach down inside and pull it out, won’t we do just about anything to get it?  We hope and dream and pray and beg.  We just know that what we are asking for and want is 100% the right answer.  We cry out to God and cry out to God just hoping to beseech Him enough that He will answer us.

Recently I had just that happen to me on a pretty large scale.  So, I had been asking God to help me with a loan I was trying to get for further expansion over one of my businesses.  And I told, yes that’s right…I told God that I knew what I wanted and asked Him to give it to me.

Anyways, I was given an opportunity by the SBA to hold the mortgage on my building…but there was just one problem.  The SBA won’t loan to any Businesses principally engaged in teaching, instructing, counseling or indoctrinating religion or religious beliefs, whether in a religious or secular setting”.   Well, uggh, what do I do now.  Oh I knew what to do alright.

You see, I am sooo very smart and superior in my thinking.  So much so that I always have the correct answer…..bahhahahahaha.  Yeah, whatever.  But this was my thinking at the moment.  I knew what to do, so I got to work.

The loan officer was coming by for a visit to my business and I had to take action.  So, I quickly called the girls and told them to (no judgement now) cover up and/or take down the religious items in the main areas of the building.  I know, I know, but it was just for an hour, right.  Yep, me oh perfect Christian wife, mom, daughter, and business owner put my plan into action.

My plan was to get this guy in and out of the building without seeing what I said I stood for in every way.  I justified my rationale that I was not denying God, just simply not wearing Him visibly upon my sleeve, or my business so to speak.  Worse yet, I even had all my employees follow suit.  AHHHHH, in retrospect!  It is absolutely amazing how we can talk ourselves into thinking things are okay to do, when we know deep in our hearts that it is so wrong.

To make a long story short, the guy never ended up coming.  And now I felt so bad about my decision.  I had been up all night long regretting and volleying back in forth in my head.  But I felt like I had no other choice. How else would I get this accomplished? I was putting my plan into action and relying on myself to get what I wanted when I wanted it!  Huh, God said….think again.

So, lets fast forward another week.  Ifinally get a text message from the loan officer stating he would like to come by the following day to meet with me.  Okay, I thought, here we go again.  But this time I felt something different.  I knew that I knew that what I had done was wrong.  And now I was being given a second chance to make the right decision.

Oh my gosh, I was a hot wreck.  So I stopped by my parent’s house to drown my misery.  I was explaining to them the circumstances when my dad said, “Well maybe God will give you a ‘Mulligan’.”  I laughed and told him that I had already been given my Mulligan, many times.  Oh thank God that he does give us ‘Mulligans’ or opportunities for a redo.

So again I was up all night and morning thinking what I could say to this loan officer to convince him that I am not a “religious” business.  I was prepared to cover the gamut from religion to relationship.  I never really consider myself to be “religious”.  This is way too hard for me.  But I do know that I have an amazing relationship with my Father.  And the Bible is not some “religious theology”, but rather a book filled with wisdom and knowledge.  And to deny the Bible as a valid source of history, one should also deny all other historical books.  I focus on love and how to love because then, and only then can we really know the true nature of Christ.

Okay, back on track, so God was giving me my Mulligan.  And trust me when I say my heart was pitter, pattering non-stop.  But then it struck me!  Why on earth was I so worried about a man when I have the Creator of All things on my side.  He is for me and not against me.  And the only place worry was getting me was nowhere.  So, I cried out to God and left it all in His hands.  And after all my heartache and worry, I at last felt some peace by not trying on my own to make things happen.   I opened up the Word for comfort and found, 2 Chronicles 32:7 “be strong and courageous!  Don’t be afraid (of a mere person), for there is a power far greater on our side!  …..he is just a man.  We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us.”

And fight my battles is exactly what and who God is!  Not only did God answer my prayers, but He actually gave me better solutions that I didn’t even know existed.  And the loan officer, this man I feared so greatly, told me that he was nervous to come talk to me.  Well, isn’t life funny?  All that anxiety for nothing more than a headache and guilty feelings.  God had it all along and He deserved all the praise.  For my pride in trying to solve the problem on my own, only led me to a pit of despair. But when I put my trust in God, He took care of everything.

So, I want to encourage you today to know that EVERYONE, even those you couldn’t imagine, make mistakes.  Maybe you have an addiction to drugs, or alcohol, or pornography, or cursing or smoking.  Perhaps your issue is your wrong way of thinking or not fully trusting God.  Well, I am here to tell you today that we have a Great and Mighty God on our side.  He hears you when you call to Him and He will fight your battles for you.

Don’t give up and give in.  Instead seek God and His wisdom.  Quit relying on yourself and your own abilities.  Ask God for a Mulligan and make the right choice.  Remember what Isaiah 42:10 tells us, Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
